TAMOXIFENUM (Tamoxifenum). 1- [p- [2- (Dimethylamino) ethoxy] phenyl] -trans-1, 2-diphenyl-1-butene.

Produced in the form of citrate.

Synonyms: Zitazonium, Citofen, Noltam, Nolvadex, Tamaxin, Tamofen, Tamoplex, Tamoxifen citrate, Valodex, Zitazonium and others.

The structure has elements of similarity with chlorotrianizen and clomiphen citrate (see).

The drug is considered as one of the main modern anti-estrogens.

The mechanism of anti-estrogenic action of tamoxifen and other anti-estrogens is explained by their ability to competitively bind to estrogen receptors in target organs and thus prevent the formation of the estrogen receptor complex with the endogenous ligand 17β-estradiol.

As an antitumor agent, tamoxifen is used in breast cancer in women (in the postmenopausal period), in endometrial cancer, as well as in anovulatory infertility.

Assign inside the form of tablets, with breast cancer take 20 - 40 mg 1 - 2 times a day; With endometrial cancer - 20-30 mg 1 - 2 times a day; At anovulatory infertility - 10 mg 2 times a day for 4 consecutive days, starting from the 2nd day of menstruation. The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy.
