Description of the medicine: Yoghexol (Iohexol)

YOGEXOL (Iohexol).

N, N'-Bis (2,3-dihydroxypropyl) -5- [N- (2, 3-dihydroxypropyl) acetamido] -2,4,6-triiodizophthalamide.

Synonym: Omnipack, Omnipaque.

The iodine content is 46.4%.

Produced in the form of sterile solutions containing in 1 ml 388, 518, 647 or 755 mg of yogexol (180,240,300 or 350 mg iodine in 1 ml, respectively).

Yogexol is readily soluble in water; Ready-made solutions of yogexol (omnipak) contain as an additive trisamine (see) and sodium-calcium salt of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Na-Ca-Edetat); The pH of the solution is 6, 8 -7, 6.

Refers to the so-called nonionic radiopaque means. Unlike <ionic> drugs, which are sodium salts and create a high osmotic pressure when injected into the blood stream, which can lead to undesirable side effects, the omnipak has a low osmolarity (about 2, 5 times lower than that of the triombrast).

The viscosity of omnipac solutions in concentrations of 140.180 and 240 mg of iodine in 1 ml below the viscosity of the blood, and at concentrations of 300 and 350 ml of iodine in 1 ml - slightly exceeds the viscosity of the blood. The drug is relatively little associated with blood proteins. Quickly and almost completely excreted unchanged in the urine (within 24 hours).

In comparison with other triiodosoderzhaschimi radiopaque means omnipak low toxicity.

Depending on the indications, the omnipak is injected into the blood vessels, into the cavity, into the subarachnoid spaces, and also into the interior.

Intravascular injection is used for intravenous excretory urography, angiography, phlebography.

The concentrations of solutions and doses depend on the indications and age of the patient.

For the production of excretory urography usually administered to adults is 40 80 ml of a drug containing 300 or 350 mg of iodine in 1 ml; Children with a body weight of up to 7 kg - per 1 kg of body weight 3 ml of the drug containing 1 ml of 300 mg of iodine; With a body weight of more than 7 kg - 2 ml / kg of the same solution (no more than 40 ml).

For angiography of the aortic arch, 30 to 40 ml of omnipak containing 300 mg of iodine in 1 ml are administered; For aortography 40-60 ml of a solution containing 350 mg of iodine in 1 ml; For peripheral arteriography (lower extremities) - 30 - 50 ml of solution with a content of 350 or 300 mg of iodine in 1 ml. For cardioangiography, 30-60 ml of a solution containing 350 mg of iodine in 1 ml are administered to adults in the left ventricle and root of the aorta; For selective coronary arteriography - 4 - 6 ml of the same solution.

For phlebography (lower extremities), administer 20 to 100 ml of a solution containing 240 or 300 mg of iodine per ml.

In the cavity (for arthrography, retrograde endoscopic pancreatography, choleangiopancreatography, herniography, hysterosalpingography) omnipak with an iodine content of 240,300 or 350 mg in 1 ml in doses of 5 to 50 ml is administered.

Inside for X-ray examination of the gastrointestinal tract omnipak, containing 180 mg of iodine in 1 ml, in doses of 10 to 200 ml or omnipak containing 350 mg of iodine in 1 ml, in doses of 10 to 20 ml.

Subarachnoid omnipak is administered to adults and children for lumbar, thoracic and cervical myelography and for tomography of basal cisterns.
