Description of the medicine: Tropacin (Tropacinum)

TROPACIN (Tropacinum).

Tropinic ester of diphenylacetic acid hydrochloride.

Synonyms: Diphenyetropin hydrochloride, Tropazine.

White or white with a weak creamy shade of crystalline powder. Easily soluble in water and alcohol.

By its structure and pharmacological properties, tropacin is close to atropine; Reduces the excitability of peripheral m-cholinergic receptors and, in connection with this, causes relaxation of smooth muscles, a decrease in secretion, a dilatation of the pupil. In this respect, it is less active than atropine, but is more active in affecting central cholinergic receptors. Tropacin has ganglion-blocking properties. It also has a direct spasmolytic effect on the smooth muscles of the internal organs and blood vessels.

Tropacin is an effective anticholinergic agent for the treatment of Parkinson's disease and Parkinson's disease. Can be used together with L-dofa (see Levodopa) and midantan. It can also be prescribed as a corrector for neuroleptic syndrome, which develops with the use of aminazine and other neuroleptics. The drug is also effective in spastic paresis and paralysis (including children's paralysis and convulsive motor paroxysms) and in other diseases accompanied by increased muscle tone.

In the clinic of internal diseases, tropacin is used for spasms of smooth muscles of the abdominal cavity organs, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, bronchial asthma and other conditions accompanied by an increase in the tone of the vagus nerve and spasms of smooth muscles. In obstetric practice, it is used as an antispasmodic agent, which hinders the contractile activity of the uterus, and can therefore be used in connection with the threat of premature birth and abortion.

Assign tropachin usually inside the tablets (after eating).

A single dose for adults is 0.01-0.155 g (10-12.5 mg). Assign 1 - 2 times a day. With good tolerability, a single dose can be increased to 0.015-0.02 g (in obstetrical practice appoint 0.02 g 2 times a day). The daily dose is 0.02-0.05 g, and with good tolerability - up to 0.075 g.

The drug can also be prescribed in drops as a 1% solution (10 - 15 drops per reception 2 to 3 times a day).

Higher doses for adults inside: single 0.03 grams daily 0.1 g

Single doses for children under the age of 3 years are 0.001-0.002 g, 3-5 years 0.003-0.005 g, 6-9 years 0.005-0.007 g, 10-12 years 0.007-0.01 g.

Possible complications and contraindications are the same as for other anticholinergics (see Atropine, Cyclodol).
