Description of the medicine: Flupentixol (Flupentixol)
4- [3- [2- (Trifluoromethyl) -9H-thioxanthen-9-ylidene] propyl] -1-piperazineethanol.
Synonym: Fluanxol, Fluancsol.
It has antipsychotic, anxiolytic, antidepressant and moderate sedative effects.
It is a blocker of central dopamine receptors.
After oral administration, it is well absorbed, Cmax is 3-6 hours; T Ѕ - 35 hours (for decanoate - 3 weeks); undergoes biotransformation in the liver, is excreted as metabolites mainly through the intestines and partially by the kidneys.
Apply: in large doses for psychoses with a predominance of hallucinations, delusions, impaired thinking and in small doses for depression, chronic neurotic disorders and psychosomatic disorders, accompanied by anxiety, asthenia and apathy.
Assign inside. In psychoses, the initial daily dose of 0.005-0.015 g (5-15 mg) in 2-3 doses (up to 0.04 g per day), maintenance - 0.005-0.02 g (5-20 mg) once a day in the morning ; with borderline conditions - 0.001 g (1 mg) once a day, if necessary, increase the daily dose to 0.002-0.003 g (2-3 mg).
When using the drug, extrapyramidal disorders often occur, insomnia or drowsiness, malignant antipsychotic syndrome, impaired liver tests are possible.
The drug is contraindicated in case of arousal and hyperactivity.
With caution is prescribed for convulsive syndrome, chronic hepatitis and cardiovascular diseases.
Enhances the effect of alcohol, barbiturates and other drugs that depress the central nervous system, reduces levodopa.
Method of release: tablets (dragees) of 0.0005 and 0.001 g (0.5 and 1 mg) (N.50) and 0.005 g (5 mg) of flupentixol hydrochloride (N.100); 10% solution (drops) of flupentixol dihydrochloride in 10 ml vials.
There is also a sustained-release drug flupentixol decanoate. Assign intramuscularly at 0.05-0.2 g (50-200 mg) 1 time every 2-4 weeks, after relief of acute symptoms, the dose is reduced to 0.02-0.2 g (20-200 g).
Release form: 2% and 10% oil solutions for intramuscular injection in 1 ml ampoules, 2% in 2 ml ampoules and 10 ml vials, and 10% in 5 ml vials.
