Description of the medicine: Nakom (Nakom)

NAKOM (Nakom).

To reduce the side effects and enhance the therapeutic effect of L-dofa, preparations containing L-dopa along with inhibitors of peripheral (extra-cerebral) decarboxylation of L-dofa have been developed. One such inhibitor is carbidopa [hydrazinomethyl-dopa; 3- (3, 4-dioxyphenyl) -2-hydrazino-2-methyl-propionic acid].

The combination of L-dofa with carbidopa leads to inhibition of the decomposition of L-dopa in blood and peripheral tissues and an increase in the level of L-dopa in the brain tissues, where L-dopa is converted to dopamine. In this regard, the use of smaller doses of L-dopa, with a faster therapeutic effect and reduced severity of side effects.

Indications for use are the same as for levodopa.

Assign nakom inside both during and after a meal. Doses are selected individually, taking into account the characteristics of the action of the main component (levodopa). Usually, the reception starts with 1/2 tablet 1 to 2 times a day; If necessary, increase the daily dose by adding 1/2 tablet every 2 to 3 days until the optimal effect is achieved (usually up to 3-6 tablets per day, but not more than 8 tablets per day).

Patients who received earlier L-dopa should stop taking (at least 12 h) before the beginning of treatment with L-dopa, and take it in the first days in reduced doses (no more than 3 tablets per day). The maintenance dose for most patients is 3-6 tablets per day (not more than 8 tablets per day).

Precautions and contraindications in the application of nachoma are the same as for L-dopa (levodopa).

Form release: tablets containing 0.25 g (250 mg) of levodopa and 0.025 g (25 mg) of carbidone, in a package of 100 pieces.

A similar preparation is issued under the name << Sinemet >> (<< Sinemet >> *).
