DIMETHINDEN (Dimetindene).

N, N-Dimethyl-3- [1- (2-pyridinyl) ethyl] -1H-inden-2-ethanamine.

Synonym: Fenistil, Fenistil.

The blocker of H 1 -gistaminovyh receptors. Has anti-bradykinin, m-holinoblokiruyuschimi and sedative effects.

When ingestion is quickly and completely absorbed, bioavailability is about 70% (with cutaneous use of 10%), C max - 2 h, T S - 6 h (for retard form 11 h), passes through the blood-brain barrier; Excreted in the urine and bile in the form of metabolites.

Indications: urticaria, Quincke's edema, allergic dermatoses with severe itching, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis; Exanthema in infectious diseases, burns (gel).

Apply inside and topically.

Inside, adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed 1 capsule retard at night or 20-40 drops 3 times a day, children from 1 month to 1 year for 3-10 drops, from 1 to 3 years - 10-15 drops and From 3 to 12 years - 15-20 drops 3 times a day. The course of treatment is 10-15 days.

The gel is applied to the affected skin 3-4 times a day.

Side effects occur rarely.

The drug is contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Strengthens the central effects of tranquilizers, sleeping pills and alcohol.

Form release: retard tablets of 0.0025 grams (2.5 mg) and retard capsules of 0.004 g (4 mg) (N. 10); 0,1% solution (drops) for oral administration in vials of 10 and 20 ml; 0.1% gel in tubes of 20 and 30 g.
