Synthetic lipid-lowering drug group of statins.
HMG CoA reductase inhibitor.
The drug was proposed in the mid-1990s. as a hypolipidemic agent. It effectively reduces the level of LDL cholesterol and increases - HDL. Operates in small doses (0.1-0.3 mg per day). However, due to the side effects identified in the process of its use, in the late 1990s. production of cerivastatin (lipobaya) was discontinued.
