Description of the medicine: Goserelin (Goserelin)
Synonym: Zoladex, Zoladex.
Synthetic decapeptide is an analogue of the gonadotropin releasing factor (C 59 H 84 N 18 O 14 ).
By action, it is close to buserelin (see).
With max is 1.5-3 hours (a high level is maintained for 12-15 days in men and 22 days in women), T Ѕ - 2.5-4 hours.
Used for hormone-dependent prostate and breast cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids.
It is produced in the form of a special depot apparatus - a rod (capsule) of a cylindrical shape containing 3.6 or 10.8 mg of goserelin acetate, which is included in a biodegradable polymer matrix. The rod is in a special syringe. The drug is injected into the subcutaneous tissue of the anterior abdominal wall: 3.6 mg once every 28 days; 10.8 mg once every 3 months. In the treatment of prostate cancer, it is used in combination with antiandrogen drugs.
Duration of treatment is up to 6 months.
Possible side effects: in men - violation of the patency of the ureters; in women - hot flashes, fluctuations in blood pressure, menstrual irregularities, skin allergic reactions.
The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
