Dorzolamide (Dorzolamide).

4- (Ethylamino) -5,6-dihydro-6-methyl-4 H-thieno [2,3-b] -tiopiran-2-sulfonamide-7,7-dioxide (hydrochloride).

Synonym: Trusopt, Trusopt.

White or off-white crystalline powder. Soluble in water, soluble in methanol and difficult ethanol.

On chemical structure has similarities with diakarbom and hydrochlorothiazide.

It has a pronounced ability to block carbonic anhydrase in the ciliary body of the eye and lowers intraocular pressure effectively (mainly by reducing the secretion of aqueous humor) in patients with glaucoma when applied topically in the form of eye drops.

Assign with open-angle glaucoma of different species. According to the degree of intraocular pressure reduction usually does not yield β-blockers (timolol, betaxolol). Better tolerated than pilocarpine (causes miosis).

Administered one drop into the conjunctival sac of the patient eye 2-3 times a day. The maximum hypotensive effect develops within 2 hours after instillation and maintained for 12 hours.

Can be used in combination with trusopta eye drops β-blocker (timolol); Sometimes there has been increasing reduction of intraocular pressure.

When combined with several local ophthalmic preparations each injected with intervals of 10 min.

Drops trusopta (like other antiglaucomatous eye drops) should be applied under the systematic control of intraocular pressure. It is necessary to consider the possibility of individual response (in terms of efficacy and tolerability).

When using small droplets trusopta possible itching, burning and tingling sensation in the eye, blurred vision short, bitter taste in the mouth, in some cases - conjunctivitis, blepharitis, allergic reactions (skin rash), paresthesia.

The drug is contraindicated in severe renal insufficiency, gipohloremichesky acidosis, pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood.

As in the case of other drugs, cancel at elevated individual sensitivity.

Product: 2% solution in vials-droppers of 5 ml.

Kosopt (Cosopt). Eye drops containing 2% solution dorzolamide and timolol 0.5% solution (in 5 ml vials).
