Follicular hormone, formed in the female body at the same time as estrone.

White crystalline powder. Almost nerastvorim in water, it is difficult soluble in alcohol.

By structure, physiological and pharmacological activity is close to estrone.

In the form of esters (benzoate and dipropionate), estradiol slightly disintegrates in the tissues of the body; It is quickly and completely absorbed; Undergoes biotransformation in the liver with the formation of estrone and estriol, excreted with bile into the lumen of the small intestine, where it is reabsorbed, is withdrawn slowly.

The activity of 1 mg of estradiol benzoate corresponds to 10,000 units.

Applied with estrogenic deficiency in the menopausal period and after gynecological operations, with delayed sexual development in girls, hirsutism, with polycystic ovary syndrome, weakness of labor activity, for contraception, with prostate cancer.

Assign inside and topically.

Inside apply to 0.001-0.002 g (1-2 mg) 1 time per day (with prostate cancer 3 times a day).

The gel is applied to 0.5-1.5 g (0.5-1.5 mg estradiol) on the skin of the anterior wall of the abdomen or buttocks 1 time per day, patch - 2 times a week.
