Description medications: Amoxiclav (Amoxyclav)

Amoxiclav (Amoxyclav).

Combined preparation containing amoxicillin in combination with clavulanic acid - β-lactamase inhibitor.

Indications for use are basically the same as that of amoxicillin: infection of the respiratory system, bile and urinary tract, abdominal, pelvic, upper respiratory tract, skin, soft tissues, bones, tonsillitis, endocarditis, septicemia, prostatitis, gonorrhea.

Due to the broad spectrum of activity and high activity amoxiclav it is regarded as a drug that can be administered to outpatients for "empirical" chemotherapy (to clarify the nature of the causative agent of an infectious disease) and without pharmacokinetic studies.

Administered orally and intravenously.

Inside designate adults and children over 14 years: 1 tablet 3 times a day for children up to 14 years - in the form of a suspension (from ½ to 2 teaspoons, depending on age) or drops (0.75-1.25 mL) 3 times in a day.

Intravenously (slowly or as an infusion) administered every 6-8 hours for adults and children over 12 years: 1.2 g, for children up to 12 years - a rate of 30 mg / kg.

Product: tablets of 0.25 and 0.5 g of amoxycillin (trihydrate) and 0.125 g of clavulanic acid (potassium salt); powder and 3.1% to 6.25% suspension (5 ml respectively 0.125 and 0.25 g of amoxicillin and 0.03 and 0.06 g of the potassium salt of clavulanic acid) and 6.25% solution (dripping for children) (1 ml of 0.05 g amoxicillin and 0.013 g of the potassium salt of clavulanic acid) for ingestion; Lyophilized powder for injection solutions in vials of 0.6 g and 1.2 (respectively 0.5, 1 and 0.1 g of amoxicillin and 0.2 g of the potassium salt of clavulanic acid).
