Description of the medicine: Calcipotriol (Calcipotriol)
(1α-3β, 24R, 5Z, 7E, 22E) -9-10-Seco-24-cyclopropylchloletetraen-5,7,10 (19), 22-9-ol-1,3,24.
Synonyms: Dayvonex, Psorkutan, Calcimar, Cibacalan, Daivonex, Psorcutan.
The chemical structure is close to the vitamins of group D.
The main property of the drug is its positive effect on metabolic processes in the skin (inhibits proliferation and accelerates the differentiation of keratocytes) and the therapeutic effect of psoriasis.
Available in the form of ointment, cream and solution for external use.
Cream or ointment is applied to the affected areas of the skin with a thin layer 3 times a day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 15 g (not more than 100 g per week).
The solution is applied to the affected areas of the scalp 2 times a day. The maximum weekly dose is 60 ml.
The duration of treatment should not exceed 6-8 weeks.
Perhaps the combined use of ointments with PUVA therapy (see Photosensitizing agents).
It is not recommended to apply ointment to the skin of the face. After using the ointment, wash your hands thoroughly.
Calcipotriol should not be prescribed to pregnant women. With individual hypersensitivity to the drug, the application of the ointment is stopped.
Method of release: 0.005% ointment and cream in tubes of 30 and 100 g; 0.005% solution for external use in bottles of 30 and 60 ml.
