Description of the medicine: Betaferon (Betaferon)

Betaferon.

Synonym: Interferon beta-1b, Interferon beta-1b

Recombinant human interferon beta-1b.

Has antiviral and immunomodulatory effect (inhibits viral replication and the formation of γ-interferon, stimulates the function of T-suppressors).

It is proposed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (see also Reaferon), in the pathogenesis of which an important role can play a viral lesion. It is effective mainly in the remitting forms of multiple sclerosis: it reduces the frequency of exacerbations and slows the progression of the process, which is probably due to its immunomodulatory effect.
