Description of the medicine: Valaciclovir (Valaciclovir)

VALACICLOIR (Valaciclovir).

L-Valine ester of 9 - [(2-hydroxyethoxy) methyl] guanine.

Synonym: Valtrex, Valtrex.

White or colorless powder. Soluble in water.

Valine analog of acyclovir.

Similar to acyclovir by the mechanism of antiviral action.

Effective against herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, herpes zoster and cytomegalovirus.

When ingested quickly absorbed into the digestive tract, bioavailability is about 50%; C max is 1.5 h, T S is 2.5-3.3 h; In the intestine is hydrolyzed with the formation of acyclovir and L-valine, excreted in urine and feces for 4 days.

Apply for herpes zoster, skin lesions and mucous membranes caused by herpes simplex.

Assign inside adults: with herpes zoster - 1 g 3 times a day (for 7 days); At simple - on 0,5 g 2 times a day (5-10 days); At a genital - on 0,5 g 2 times a day.

Possible side effects are the same as in acyclovir.

Form release: tablets of 0.25 g (N. 10, 60) and 0.5 g (N. 6.10).
