Description drugs: docetaxel (Docetaxel)

Docetaxel (Docetaxel).

Complex organic compounds (C 43 H 53 NO 14), which has elements of structural similarity with paclitaxel. Both compounds are derivatives and contain benzolpropanoevoy acid molecule phenylisoserine group.

Synonym: Taxotere, Taxotere.

White or almost white crystalline powder. Insoluble in water.

Like paclitaxel has cytotoxic (anti-cancer) activity. Close to it by the mechanism of action.

Apply with breast cancer (including metastatic), non-small cell lung cancer, ovarian, stomach; head and neck tumors.

Vnturivenno administered slowly (over 1 h) at a dose of 100 mg / m 2 1 every 3 weeks. In the case of a dose of significant side effects is reduced to 50-75 mg / m 2.

A solution for infusion is prepared from the concentrate by diluting it in isotonic (0.9%) sodium chloride solution or 5% glucose solution.

Before the introduction of the drug conducted premedication antihistamines drugs or corticosteroids.

Possible side effects are the same as that of paclitaxel.
