Description of the medicine: Panavirum

Panavirum.

Purified extract (hexose glycoside) from shoots (sprouts) of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum).

Brownish amorphous powder. Almost nerastvorim in alcohol, acetone, chloramine; Soluble in water.

Has antiviral activity against DNA and RNA-containing viruses: herpes of types I and II, tick-borne encephalitis, hepatitis C, influenza, rabies, Epstein-Barr virus, adenoviruses, cytomegalovirus.

The mechanism of action is associated with blockade of replication of viral proteins, induction of interferon production, increased viability of infected cells.

Applied mainly intravenously with chronic tick-borne encephalitis and recurrent genital herpes. There are data on the effectiveness of the gel drug to eliminate vulgar warts, papillomas, genital warts, polyps and molluscs.

Assign adults intravenously 0.2 mg twice with an interval of 24 or 48 hours. If necessary, after 1 month, the course of treatment can be repeated.

When an overdose is likely reversible impairment of kidney and spleen.

The drug should not be given to children, pregnant or breast-feeding.

Forms of release: 0,004% solution for intravenous injection in ampoules and vials of 5 ml, 0.01% - 2 ml and 0.02% - 1 ml (0.2 mg); Gel in tubes of 3 g.
