It has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action. It is active against staphylococci, streptococci, meningococci, enterococci, Vibrio cholerae, Campylobacter, Chlamydia, Clostridium, Helicobacter, Legionella, Listeria, Mycoplasma, and others. It acts on the microorganisms that produce and not producing penicillinase.

It has also anti-inflammatory properties (inhibits the synthesis of cytokines).
