Description of the medicine: Ortophenum (Ortophenum)
Sodium salt of 2 - [(2, 6-dichlorophenyl) amino-phenylacetic acid.

The crystalline powder is white. The drug has the characteristic properties of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: it has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects. It is superior in strength to anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects to acetylsalicylic acid, butadion and ibuprofen. The effectiveness of rheumatism and ankylosing spondylitis is not inferior to prednisone and indomethacin.
When taken orally, the drug is well absorbed. With the course of treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, it penetrates intensively into the joint cavities.
Orthophene is used for acute rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (ankylosing spondylitis), arthrosis, spondylarthrosis.
Assign inside adults in the form of tablets: 0.025-0.05 g 2 to 3 times a day (sometimes up to 4-6 times a day). Upon reaching the therapeutic effect, give 0.025 g 3 times a day. The course of treatment usually lasts 5 to 6 weeks. The tablets are swallowed without chewing while eating or immediately after eating.
Children are prescribed in tablets of 0.015 g.
Also used in the form of intramuscular injections of 75 mg (1 ampoule) 1 to 2 times a day. The effect comes faster and more pronounced. Usually injected into the muscles for 2 to 5 days (up to 2 weeks), then go on taking the tablets inside.
The drug is usually well tolerated and rarely causes side effects. Possible, however (especially at the beginning of treatment), pain in the epigastric region, belching, vomiting, diarrhea, as well as headaches and slight dizziness. These phenomena usually pass independently. In some cases, skin allergic reactions are possible.
The drug is contraindicated in gastric and duodenal ulcers and in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
Caution is necessary when prescribing the drug to people suffering from gastrointestinal diseases, liver and kidney damage.
With prolonged use of the drug, it is necessary to control the blood picture.
It is not recommended to prescribe orthophen in conjunction with acetylsalicylic acid, as this reduces the concentration of orthophen in the blood plasma.
Method of release: tablets of 0.025 g (25 mg) of the drug for adults and 0.015 g (15 mg) for children, coated with an orange membrane, soluble in the intestine; 2, 5% solution in ampoules of 3 ml (75 mg in ampoule) in a package of 5 pieces.

Abroad, diclofenac sodium is produced with a prolonged action of voltaren retard 100 (Voltaren retard 100), containing 100 mg of diclofenac sodium in 1 tablet (in a package of 20 tablets). The action of such a pill lasts for a day. The drug is convenient for use in the treatment of patients with chronic inflammatory diseases.
