Description medications: Tsefmetazol (Cefmetazole)

TSEFMETAZOL (Cefmetazole).

(6R, 7S) -7- [2- [cyanomethylthio] acetamido] -7-methoxy-3 - [[(1-methyl-1-H-tetrazol-5-yl) thio] methyl] -8-oxo- 5-thio-1-azabicyclo [4.2.0] oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid.

Synonyms: Tsefmetazon, Cefmetazone, Zefazone.

Chemically different cephalosporin antibiotics in that it comprises in the 7-position of the cephem nucleus a methoxy (OCH 3) and cyano (CN) in the side chain.

It has a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity. Acts on Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, is highly effective against anaerobes. Resistant to β-lactamases, including chromosome.

Applied for the treatment of sepsis, peritonitis, respiratory tract infections, urinary and biliary tract, genitalia, the maxillofacial region, wound infections.

Enter intravenously (in 0.9% sodium chloride solution) or intramuscularly (0.5% lidocaine solution): The usual single dose of 1-2 g (2-4 g daily); administered every 12 hours. The course of treatment 4-10 days (up to 14 days).

Possible side effects and contraindications are basically the same as that of cefazolin.
