LIBEXIN (Libexin). 3- (b, b - Diphenylethyl) -5- (b -piperidinoethyl) -1, 2, 4-oxadiazole hydrochloride.
Synonyms: Glibexin, Glibexin, Prenoxdiazin hydrochloride, Tibexin, Toparten, Varoxil.
White or almost white crystalline powder.
Synthetic antitussive drug. The antitussive activity is approximately equal to codeine; does not depress respiration. Does not cause addiction. It has local anesthetic and antispasmodic activity. In chronic bronchitis, an anti-inflammatory effect is noted.
Used as an antitussive for catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, bronchial asthma, emphysema, etc. Can be used before bronchoscopy and bronchography (in combination with atropine).
Assign inside adults to 0.1 g (1 tablet) 3 - 4 times a day, in severe cases - 0.2 g 3 - 4 times a day; for children, depending on age, on 0,025 - 0.05 g (1 / 4-1 / 2 tablets) 3 - 4 times a day. To avoid anesthesia, the oral mucosa is swallowed without chewing.
Form release: tablets of 0.1 g of white color in a package of 20 pieces.
