Description of the medicine: Hexoprenaline (Hexoprenaline)

HEXOPRENALIN (Hexoprenaline) *.

N, N'-Bis [2- (3 ', 4'-dihydroxyphenyl) -2-hydroxyethyl] -hexamethylenediamine.

It is produced in the form of sulfate and hydrochloride.

Synonyms: Ipradol, Ipradol (Name of the drug company "Hafslund Nycomed Pharma AG"), Ipradol "Linz".

Hexoprenaline is a b-adrenostimulator of the original (bisymmetric) chemical structure. Selectively stimulates b 2 -adrenoreceptors and has a strong and prolonged bronchodilator effect.

The drug also has a pronounced tocolytic effect and is available for use in obstetric practice under the name "Ginipral" (see).

As a bronchodilator, hexoprenaline (ipradol) is prescribed to relieve and prevent bronchiolospasm in chronic obstructive airways diseases.

Applied for inhalation in the form of an aerosol, for oral administration - in the form of tablets and syrup, as well as as a solution for injections (in ampoules).

Adults appoint 1 to 2 inhalations (0.2 mg per dose) to 5 times a day with intervals between inhalations of at least 30 minutes. Inside appoint 1 to 2 tablets (0.5 mg each), taken usually 3 times a day.

Intravenously with acute attack of bronchial asthma, adults are administered 2 ml, with a severe form of dyspnea - 3 ml, maximum 4 ml. If asthmatic status is administered, if necessary, 2 ml to 3 - 4 times a day. Enter slowly (no more than 1 ml per minute). It is possible to dilute the contents of the ampoule in an isotonic solution of sodium chloride or in a 5% solution of glucose.

Children inside prescribe hexoprenaline in the form of syrup.

Possible side effects and contraindications are the same as when using other b-adrenostimulants (see).

Form release: in aerosol containers (15 ml) with a metering valve regulating the release of 0.2 mg hexoprenaline sulphate at a single press (the total number of doses in a single package of about 400); Tablets of 0.0005 g (0.5 mg) of hexoprenaline sulfate in a package of 20 or 100 pieces; Ampoules of 2 ml (5 mg in an ampoule) in a package of 5 ampoules; Syrup for children containing 0.125 mg of hexoprenaline dihydrochloride in 1 measuring spoon (5 ml), in 150 ml bottles.

For use in conventional inhalers, a 0.025% solution of hexoprenaline hydrochloride (0.25 mg in 1 ml) is also available in 50 ml bottles.
