KETANSERINUM. 3- [2- [4- (p-Fluorobenzoyl) piperidinyl] ethyl] -2,4 (1H, 3 H) -quinazolinedione.

Available in the form of tartrate.

White or slightly yellowish powder.

It is a specific antagonist of 5-HT 2 -receptors; In addition, has a moderate a-adrenoblocking effect.

Ketanserin blocks various effects of serotonin, especially its spasmogenic effect on vascular and bronchial muscles on platelet aggregation.

In connection with the combined blocking effect on 5-HT 2 (S 2) -gistamine and a 1 -adrenergic receptors, the drug causes vasodilation and has an antihypertensive effect.

Ketanserin is used in the treatment of hypertension, for the relief of hypertensive crises, as well as for violations of peripheral circulation (intermittent claudication, Raynaud's disease, etc.). Assign also with thrombosis (peripheral thrombophlebitis, hemorrhoidal thrombosis, etc.).

In acute hypertensive crises, 10 mg (2 ml of a 0.5% solution) or intravenously at a dose of 10-30 mg (2-6 ml at a rate of 5 mg per minute) are administered intramuscularly.

The drug is contraindicated: during pregnancy and lactation.
