The chemical structure is close to lidocaine. It is one of the most active and long-acting local anesthetics. It is used for local infiltration anesthesia (0.25%), peripheral nerve blockade (0.25 - 0.5%), epidural (0.75%) and caudal (0.25 - 0.5%) anesthesia; retrobulbar blockade (0.75%). In obstetric and gynecological practice, only 0.25 - 0.5% solutions are allowed, but not 0.75%. When using a 0.75% solution, caution should be exercised.
