Description of the medicine: Chloraconum

Chloraconum.

Benzylamide of b-chloropropionic acid, or N-benzyl-b-chloropropionamide.

Synonyms: Beclamidum, Beclamide, Benzchlorpropamide, Hibicon, Nydrane, Posedrine and others.

White or white with a weak yellowish hue, crystalline powder or shiny leaves. Almost nerastvorim in water, soluble in alcohol.

Applied with epilepsy (large convulsive seizures), psychomotor excitation of epileptic nature.

Assign inside after eating to adults starting with 0.5 g 4 times a day (2 g per day); If seizures continue, increase the dose to 4 g (sometimes up to 6 g) per day. Children are given 0.25-0.5 g per reception 2-3-4 times a day, depending on the age, frequency of seizures and the child's response to treatment.

Chloracon can be administered together with phenobarbital. In this case, the patient receives in the morning half a dose of chloracon and 0.05 g of phenobarbital, in the daytime - chloracon, and at night - chloracon with phenobarbital. It should be borne in mind that the use of chloroacon without phenobarbital can lead to poor sleep.

With successful treatment with chloracon and prolonged absence of seizures, the dose is gradually reduced, you can gradually transfer the patient to treatment with phenobarbital (0.05-0.1 g per night or 2 times a day). In case of resumption of seizures, chloraconum is administered again in the usual dose.

During the treatment with chloracone, irritation of the gastric mucosa, dizziness, general weakness can be observed.

With prolonged intake of the drug, control of liver function, kidney function, blood picture is necessary.
