Leaves of the Senna (Folia Sennae).
Synonym: Cassia leaf (Folium cassiae).
Collected in the flowering and fruiting phase, dried and threshed leaves of cultivated shrubs of Cassia acutifolia (Cassia acutifolia Del.) And narrow-leaved (Cassia angustifolia Vahl.), Fam. legumes (Fabaseae).
They contain emodin, chrysophanic acid and other substances. The number of anthracene derivatives in terms of chrysophanic acid should be at least 1, 35%.
The laxative effect of preparations from senna leaves is similar to the effect of preparations of rhubarb and other herbal laxatives containing anthraglycosides. The laxative effect usually occurs after 6 to 10 hours.
Due to the relatively low resinous content, senna preparations are generally well tolerated. However, at elevated doses, colicky pain in the abdomen, flatulence are possible. In these cases, the dose is reduced.

The following senna preparations are used.
Water infusion of senna leaves (Infusum foliorum Sennae) from 5 to 10 g per 100 ml of water; appoint 1 tablespoon 2 to 3 times a day.
Senna leaf (crushed) is also produced in the form of briquettes weighing 75 g, divided into 10 slices. Two slices are poured with a glass of boiling water, boiled for 5 minutes, insisted for an hour, filtered, cooled. Take 1 tablespoon 1 - 2 - 3 times a day.

Complex licorice root powder (Pulvus Glycyrrhiza compositus) contains 20 parts of senna leaves in powder, 20 parts of licorice root, 10 parts of fennel fruits in powder, 10 parts of purified sulfur, 40 parts of sugar in powder.
Assign as a mild laxative to adults (especially for hemorrhoids) 1 to 2 teaspoons, children - 1 / 4- 1/3 teaspoon 1 to 2 3 times a day, stirring in water.

Senna infusion is complex, or Viennese drink (Infusum Sennаe comsitum). Obtained from 10 parts of rugged Senna leaves, 10 parts of sodium-potassium tartrate (salt salt), 10 parts of purified honey, 10 parts of alcohol 95%, 75 parts of boiling water. Dark brown transparent liquid of honey smell, sweet-salty taste.

Tea hemorrhoidal (Sresies antihaemorrhoidalis). Ingredients: 20 g of senna leaf, buckthorn bark, yarrow herb, coriander fruit, licorice root.
