Medication Description: Celanid (Celanidum)
The primary (genuinic) glycoside is digilanide, or lanatozid C, from the foxglove's leaves.
Synonyms: Isolanide, Lanatoside C, Cedilanid, Cedisanol, Cedistabil,
Ceglunat, Celadigal, Cristalanat C, Digilanid C, Isolanid, Lanacroist,
Lanatigen C, Lanatosidum C.
Colorless or white crystalline powder; odorless. Very little is soluble in water, it is difficult - in alcohol.
It acts on the heart like other digitalis glycosides, providing, however, a quick effect, and has a relatively small cumulative capacity. Active when ingested; when injected into a vein, it acts at almost the same rate as strophanthin. Compared with strophanthin, it has a stronger bradycardic effect.
The biological activity of celanide 14000 - 16000 ICE or 3200 3800 KED in 1 g.
Applied with acute and chronic circulatory failure
Grades II and III, a tachysystolic form of atrial fibrillation, is correct in the tricular form of paroxysmal tachycardia.
It is administered orally in tablets (0.25 mg each) or in drops (0.05% solution), as well as intravenously (0.02% solution for injections).
To obtain a quick effect, intravenously, 0.2-0.4 mg (1-2 ml of a 0.02% solution) is administered intravenously 1-2 times a day. They take inside from 0.25 to 0.5 mg (1–2 tablets) or 10–25 drops of a 0.05% solution 3–4 times a day (daily doses sometimes exceed the highest daily doses prescribed by GFH). Upon reaching a therapeutic effect (with intravenous administration, usually on days 2–3, and when taken orally on days 3–5), the daily dose is reduced to maintenance: 0.4–0.2 mg (2–1 ml 0 , 02% solution) intravenously, 0.5 - 0.25 mg (2 - 1 tablet) or 40 - 20 - 10 drops of a 0.05% solution inside. For long-term maintenance therapy prescribed by mouth for 1/2 tablets 2 times a day.
Higher doses for adults inside: single 0.0005 g (0.5 mg), 0.001 g daily (1 mg); into a vein: a single 0.0004 g (0.4 mg), a daily 0.0008 g (0.8 mg).
Possible complications and contraindications are the same as for other digitalis glycosides.
Method of production: tablets of 0.00025 g (0.25 mg); 0.05% solution in vials of 10 ml (0.5 mg in 1 ml) for oral administration and 0.02% solution in 1 ml ampoules (0.2 mg in 1 ml).
