Description of the medicine: Cinnarizine (Cinnarizine)

Cinnarizine. Trans-1-Cinnamoyl-4-diphenylmethyl-piperazine, or N-benzhydryl-N'-transcinnamoyl-piperazine.

Synonyms: Stugeron, Cinniprine, Dimitronal, Glamil, Labyrin, Marisan, Midronal, Mitronal, Stugeron, Stutgeron and others.

Cinnarizine has a positive effect on cerebral, peripheral and coronary circulation: it improves microcirculation. Increases the ability of erythrocytes to deform and reduces the increased viscosity of the blood. Increases tissue resistance to hypoxia.

The drug has a direct spasmolytic effect on blood vessels, reduces their response to biogenic vasoconstrictors (angiotensin, etc.). Potentsiruet effect on the vessels of the brain CO. Systemic blood pressure, heart rate, contractility and conduction of the heart does not significantly affect.

The drug also has antihistaminic activity. Reduces the excitability of the vestibular apparatus (suppresses nystagmus).

According to modern data, the pharmacological properties of cinnarizine are largely due to its ability to block membrane calcium channels (see Calcium ion antagonists). It inhibits the entry of calcium ions into cells and reduces their content in the plasmolemma depot (sarcolemma).

The drug is well absorbed. When ingestion peak concentration in blood plasma observed after 1 - 3 hours; The half-life is 4 hours. It is actively metabolized. A third of metabolites is excreted in the urine, and 2/3 - with feces.

Apply cinnarizine for violations of cerebral and peripheral circulation, vestibular disorders. Despite the presence of antihistaminic activity, it is not used specifically as an antihistamine because of the availability of more effective drugs (see Histamine and antihistamines).

As a cerebrovascular agent is prescribed for violations of cerebral circulation associated with vasospasm, atherosclerosis, craniocerebral trauma, stroke. The drug reduces cerebroasthenic phenomena, headache, tinnitus, improves general condition.

Assign cinnarizine for migraine, Ménière's disease.

Cinnarizine also reduces spasms of peripheral vessels and improves blood circulation with obliterating endarteritis, thrombangiitis, Raynaud's disease, intermittent claudication, acrocyanosis and other peripheral circulatory disorders,

Take cinnarizine inward after a meal: for disorders of the cerebral circulation - usually 25 mg (1 tablet) 3 times a day or 75 mg (1 capsule) once a day (There are data on the advisability of prescribing cinnarizine at higher doses - up to 225 mg per day.); For violations of peripheral blood circulation - 50 - 75 mg (2 - 3 tablets) 3 times a day or 2 - 3 capsules (75 mg each) per day. Apply the drug relatively long (courses from several weeks to several months).

When vestibular disorders are recommended to give 25 mg 3 times a day.
