Description of the medicine: Cyclomethiazide (Cyclomethiazidum)

CYCLOMETHYAZID (Cyclomethiazidum). 3-Cyclopentylmethyl-6-chloro-7-sulfamoyl-3,4-dihydro-1, 2, 4-benzothiadiazine-1, 1-dioxide.

Synonyms: Cyclopenthiazide, Cyclopenthiazidum, Navidrex, Navidrix, Salimid, Zyklopenthiazid.

White or white with a light yellowish hue of crystalline powder. Almost nerastvorim in water, easily soluble in alcohol.

By its structure and pharmacological properties is close to dichlorothiazide. The chemical structure is characterized in that one of the hydrogen atoms in the C 3 position is replaced by a methylcyclopentyl radical. It is significantly more active than dichlorothiazide, which allows it to be used in smaller doses.

The drug is well absorbed. Diuretic effect is manifested after 2 to 4 hours after administration, with a maximum of 3-6 hours. The total time of the average therapeutic dose is about 10 to 12 hours. Daily diuresis increases in 1, 5 - 2, 5 times.

Indications for use are the same as for dichlorothiazide.

Assign inside the tablets. When swelling is usually taken at 0.0005 g (0.5 mg = 1 tablet) per day (preferably in the morning), in more severe cases - 0,001 - 0,0015 g (2 - 3 tablets) per day. An increase in the dose of more than 0.002 g per day does not usually enhance the effect. The duration of the course and the total duration of treatment are the same as for dichlorothiazide.

When hypertension is prescribed for 0.0005 g (1 tablet) per day, when combined with antihypertensive drugs - 0.0005 g 2 3 times a week. Children are advised to take 0.00025-0.0005 g (1/2 - 1 tablet) per day or once every 2 to 3 days.

Side effects, preventive measures and contraindications are the same as for dichlorothiazide.
