Ammonium chloride has a diuretic effect; together with the acid-forming agent as ammonium chloride is an effective means for correcting alkalosis. Easily soaked from the gastrointestinal tract, the drug is converted in the liver into urea in this reaction HCl is produced: 2NH 4 Cl + H 2 CO 3 ~ CO (NH 2) 2 + 2HCl + 2H 2 O. In this regard, ammonium chloride etim6 used in metabolic alkalosis, including in cases hypochloremic alkalosis, soprovozhdayuoego effects of some diuretics.

As diuretic ammonium chloride is sometimes prescribed for edema of cardiac origin.

Inside (after eating) as 2, 5 - 5% of an aqueous solution or powder in capsules of 3 - 5 days with a break. The daily dose for adults 8 - 12 grams (in divided doses).

Ammonium chloride also has expectorant effect and is used in bronchitis, pneumonia, etc. Assign into adults and 0.2 -.. 0.5 g, children - 0.1 - 0.25 g per reception 3 - 5 times a day. Take as a powder or in capsules of 0.5 - 2 5% solution.

When receiving ammonium chloride may appear stomach irritation, nausea, vomiting. To reduce dyspeptic symptoms the drug should be taken after meals.

You should not assign the drug in acute renal lesions because of the possibility of an uncompensated acidosis.
