Description of the medicine: Hyphotocin (Hyphotocinum)

HYPHOTOCIN (Hyphotocinum).

Synonym: Pituitrin M.

Purified extract of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland of cattle and pigs.

Colorless transparent liquid with a faint smell of phenol (preservative); PH 3, 0-4.0.

Has oxytocic effect; Mainly contains oxytocin, compared with pituitrin contains less vasopressin. Activity (<uterine>) is expressed in units of action (ED); 1 ml contains 5 units.

Applied in obstetric and gynecological practice with weakness of labor activity, endured pregnancy, hypotonic uterine bleeding, for normalization of involution of the uterus after childbirth and abortion.

In the first period of labor, intramuscular injection of 0.2 - 0.4 ml (1-2 ED) is administered every 30 minutes (4 to 6 times a day); In the second period - up to 1 ml intramuscularly or intravenously drip in 500 ml of 5% glucose solution or slowly in 40 ml of 40% glucose solution.

For artificial excitation of labor, gipotocin is administered 2 to 4 to 6 hours after the opening of the fetal bladder. The total amount of hyphotocin administered during childbirth or for the artificial induction of labor should not exceed 5 to 10 units.

Contraindications: discrepancy between pelvis and fetal head, presence of scars on the uterus, threatening rupture of the uterus, wrong fetal position.

Form release: in ampoules of 1 ml (5 units).
