PARTUSISTEN (Partusisten).

Chemically partusisthen corresponds to fenoterol (see) and is one of the known β-adrenostimulyatorov.

It has pharmacological properties characteristic for the preparations of this group, including the ability to exert tocolytic action.

The experience of using partusisten shows that it is an effective means for eliminating the threat of premature birth and does not adversely affect the fetus and the newborn.

Assign intravenously (drip) and inside in the form of tablets. Shortly after the initiation of intravenous administration, there is usually a significant reduction in pain, uterus tension is relieved, then pain and uterine contractions are completely stopped.

Inside take 5 mg every 2 to 3 hours; Daily dose - up to 40 mg. With increased sensitivity (the appearance of tachycardia, muscle weakness, etc.), reduce the single dose to 2.5 mg, and the daily dose to 30 mg. Duration of treatment 1 - 3 weeks. Intravenous drip (0.5 mg in 250-500 ml of 5% glucose solution for 15 - 20 drops per minute to suppress the contractile activity of the uterus).

There are also data on the effective use of candles with partuscene (containing 5 mg of the drug, 1 to 4 times a day) to prevent the weakness of labor in women with a long preliminaries.

Apply partusisten in specialized medical institutions under close medical supervision.

The drug can cause tachycardia, tremor of hands, muscle weakness, lowering blood pressure, sweating, nausea, vomiting. It is noted that side effects decrease under the influence of isoptin (verapamil) - 30 mg intravenously.

Contraindications: heart disease, heart rhythm disturbances, thyrotoxicosis, glaucoma.

The question of the side effect of partusisten and other tocolitics needs further study. Under the experimental conditions, partusisthen may have an embryotoxic effect.
