Description of the drug: Estradiol dipropionate (Oestradioli dipropionas)

ESTRADIOL DIPROPIONATE (Oestradioli dipropionas).

Estratriene-1, 3, 5 (10) -diol-3, 17 b-dipropionate.

Synonyms: Estradiol propionate, Dimenformon dipropionate, Diogyn DP, Diovocyclin, Estradiol diproplonate, Estradioli dlpropionas, Oestradiolum dipropionicum, Ovocyclin dipropionate, Progynon DP, Synformon.

White crystalline powder. Almost nerastvorim in water, it is difficult soluble in alcohol and vegetable oils.

Estradiol is formed in the body of a woman along with estrone; Has more estrogenic activity. The activity of 1 mg of estradiol benzoate corresponds to 10,000 units.

In the form of esters (benzoate or dipropionate), estradiol slightly disintegrates in the tissues of the body. Estradiol esters are slowly absorbed, excreted and exert a lasting influence on the body; They can therefore be administered relatively infrequently, with large intervals between injections.

Estradiol dipropionate has a strong, delayed and prolonged estrogenic effect.

In general, the indications for the use of the drug coincide with those for estrone.

In addition, estradiol dipropionate is used as a gemostimulating agent in men with acute radiation damage. The drug has the ability to increase the number of leukocytes (neutrophils) and accelerate the restoration of their number in the myelodepression associated with radiation damage.

Estradiol dipropionate is administered intramuscularly. With insufficient function of the ovaries apply 0.1% solution in oil 1 ml every 1 to 3 - 5 days.

The scheme and duration of treatment depends on the nature of the disease, therapeutic effectiveness, etc. (see Estrone).

Contraindications are the same as for estrone.

As a gemostimulating agent of estradiol, dipropionate is used when the number of leukocytes is lower than 2000 in 1 μl of blood (usually from 10 to 20 days after irradiation with severe lesions and from 15 to 18 days with more mild lesions). Enter 1 ml of 0.1% solution every 1-2 days. The course is 10 injections (if necessary - up to 15 injections).

Form release: 0.1% solution (1 mg) in oil in ampoules of 1 ml.

Applied with angioedema, appearing in the climacteric period.
