Description of the medicine: Acetomepregenol (Acetomepregenolum)

ACETOMEPREGENOL (Acetomepregenolum). 6-Methylpregnadien-4, 6-diol-3b, 17a-on-20 diacetate.

White or white with a yellowish or creamy tinge crystalline powder.

Almost nerastvorim in water, little soluble in alcohol.

On the chemical structure is close to oksiprogesteronu caprolate and other progestins. Has high progestogenic activity. Effective when administered orally.

Assign for the prevention of habitual and threatening abortions in the first trimester of pregnancy, as well as in menstrual irregularities in nulliparous women. Can also be used as an oral contraceptive (see Oral Contraceptives).

Take acetomeredigenol inside regardless of the time of ingestion.

For treatment of a threatening miscarriage appoint 0.5-1.0 mg 2 - 3 times a day for 5 days, then 0.5-1.0 mg 1-2 times a day for 3 days, and then 0 , 5-1.0 mg per day for the same period. The total dose for the course is up to 15 mg.

For the prevention of miscarriage appoint 0.5-1.0 mg 2 - 3 times a day for 6 days, then at the same dose 1 - 2 times a day for 3 days, then 0.5 mg every other day for 3 days.

With dysfunctional uterine bleeding appoint 0.5 to 2.5 mg per day from the 15th to the 24th day of the cycle; In severe cases - up to 5 mg per day. After the effect is achieved, the dose is reduced to 0.5-1.0 mg per day or less. Treatment is carried out for 3-6 cycles.

As an oral contraceptive (monohormonal) agent (see Tablets <Postinor>) acetomeredigene is taken, starting from the 1st day of the cycle, 0.5 mg once a day in the evening (daily).

The duration of application should not exceed 1 year.

In the treatment of the drug, insomnia, nausea, headache, swelling of the mammary glands are possible. In some cases, allergic reactions develop (urticaria). With pronounced adverse events, the drug is canceled.

Acetomepreghenol, like other progestins, is contraindicated in neoplasms, liver function disorders, and increased clotting of blood.
