Description of the drug: Riboflavin mononucleotide (Riboflavinum-mononucleotidum)

RIBOFLAVIN-MONONUCLEOTID (Riboflavinum-mononucleotidum). 7, 8 Dimethyl-10- (1-D-ribitol) -isoalloxazine-5'-phosphate of sodium, or riboflavin-5'-monophosphate of sodium.

Synonyms: Riboflavinphosphate, Flavin-mononucleotide, Alloxazinmo-nonucleotid, Coflavinasi, Cytoflav, Flamotide, Ribofosfina, and others.

Crystalline yellow-orange powder, odorless, bitter taste. It is difficultly soluble in water; Almost insoluble in alcohol. The light decomposes. Aqueous solutions (pH 5, 5 - 6, 5) have a yellowish orange color, intensively fluoresce in ultra-violet light.

Riboflavin-mononucleotide, like cocarboxylase, approaches biological vitamins and enzymes. As a product of the riboflavin phosphorylation, the riboflavin mononucleotide is a ready-made form of co-enzyme formed in the body from riboflavin. In conjunction with the protein, riboflavin-mononucleotide is included in the enzymes that regulate redox processes (yellow oxidation enzyme and cytochrome reductase); Participates also in the processes of protein and fat metabolism; Plays an important role in maintaining the visual function of the eye.

Riboflavin-mononucleotide is used as a remedy for hypo-avitaminosis B 2 (ariboflavinose); With itching dermatoses, chronic eczema, neurodermatitis; Photodermatoses and other skin diseases; With keratitis, conjunctivitis, corneal opacity, and also as a restorative aid for eating disorders; With neurasthenia and other diseases. Good solubility in water (unlike riboflavin) allows the use of riboflavin-mononucleotide parenterally (intramuscularly and subcutaneously).

Introduce riboflavin mononucleotide intramuscularly (or under the skin) to adults for 0.01 g (1 ml of 1% solution) once a day; Course of treatment 10 - 15 - 20 days. Children are prescribed 0.005-0.01 g (0.5-1 ml of 1% solution) first for 3 to 5 consecutive days, then 2 to 3 times a week.

In ophthalmology, with a cup-shaped cataract, a 1% solution of riboflavin mononucleotide is used for instillation into the conjunctival sac.

The drug is usually well tolerated. Injections are somewhat painful.

Form release: 1% solution in ampoules of 1 ml.

Storage: in a place protected from light.
