Medication Description: Nicotinamide (Nicotinamid)
Amide nicotinic acid.
Synonyms: Aminicotin, Benicot, Bepella, Endobion, Niacevit, Niacinamid, Nicamid, Nicofort, Nicotol, Nicovit, Pelmin, etc.
White crystalline powder. Easily soluble in water and alcohol. Aqueous solutions (pH 5, 0 - 7, 0) are sterilized at +100 'C for 30 minutes.
On the structure and action is close to nicotinic acid and on a par with it is considered as vitamin PP.
Due to the neutral reaction of the solutions, nicotinamide does not cause a local reaction with injections. Nicotinamide does not have a pronounced vasodilating effect, and its use does not show any reddening of the skin and a feeling of a rush of blood to the head, which is often encountered when nicotinic acid is used.
Indications for use and doses are basically the same as for nicotinic acid (pellagra, gastritis with low acidity, chronic colitis, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, etc.). However, nicotinamide is not used as a vasodilator.
Assign nicotinamide inside and parenterally.
Prophylactically prescribed for adults in 0,015 - 0,025 g, for children in 0,005 - 0,01 g 1 - 2 times a day.
When pellagra is prescribed to adults inside 0.05 to 0.1 g 3 to 4 times a day, children from 0.01 to 0.05 g 2 to 3 times a day for 15 to 20 days, with other diseases to 0, 02 - 0.05 g for adults and 0.005 - 0.01 g for children 2-3 times a day.
Intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously injected 1 to 2 ml of 1%; 2, 5% or 5% solution 1 - 2 times a day.
Method of issuance: powder; tablets of 0.015 g (for prophylactic purposes) and 0.005 and 0.025 g (for therapeutic purposes); 1% solution in 1 ml ampoules, 2, 5% solution in 1 and 2 ml ampoules.
Storage: List B. In a tightly closed container, protected from light; ampoules - in the place protected from light.
