LIPOEVAYA ACID (Acidum lipoicum). 6, 8-Dithioctanoic acid.

Crystalline powder of light yellow color, bitter taste, with a specific smell. Almost nerastvorim in water, easily soluble in alcohol. The sodium salt of lipoic acid dissolves well in water.

Lipoic acid is a coenzyme involved in the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvic acid and a-keto acids, and plays an important role in the process of energy production in the body. By the nature of the biochemical effect, lipoic acid approaches the vitamins of group B.
