Description of the medicine: Lipofundin (Lipofundinum)
LIPOFUNDIN (Lipofundinum) *.
A fat emulsion prepared from purified soybean oil emulsified using an isotonic (2.5%) glycerol solution and containing particles (balls) of oil ranging in size from 0.1 to 1.0 microns, which corresponds to the size of chylomicrons in human blood.
A similar drug is also produced under the name "Intralipid" (Intralipid).
Lipofundin S 10% contains in 1 liter of 100 g of soybean oil and 7.5 g of soybean phosphatides; lipofundin S 20% - respectively 200 and 15 g.
Lipofundin (intralipid) is used for parenteral nutrition in the postoperative period, with extensive burns, serious infectious diseases, unconscious conditions, cancer of the stomach and esophagus, and other conditions in which the use of drugs for parenteral nutrition is indicated.
There is evidence of the effectiveness of intralipid in acute pancreatitis (due to inhibition of secretion of pancreatic juice).
Lipofundin is administered intravenously, usually at the rate of 1-2 g of fat per 1 kg of body weight per day, which is about 10-20 ml of lipofundin S 10% or 5-10 ml of lipofundin S 20%. The introduction of 500 ml of the drug should last about 3 to 5 hours (when using 10% of the drug) or 5 to 8 hours (when using 20% of the drug). Begin with 15 - 20 drops per minute for the first 10 - 15 minutes, then gradually (over 30 minutes) increase the number of drops (no more than 60 drops per minute).
After the drug is administered to the patient in a total dose corresponding to 1000 - 1500 g of fat, it is necessary to take a break in treatment, during which the blood plasma should become completely transparent. Serum enlightenment with the introduction of large doses of the drug should be monitored daily, especially in cases where there may be a violation of fat transfer and metabolism.
The drug is contraindicated in shock, myocardial infarction, stroke, severe liver disease, hyperlipidemia, nephrotic syndrome, severe atherosclerosis.
Release form: in ampoules of 100 and 500 ml.
