Gilbert Syndrome

Symptoms and course:
Complaints of abdominal pain, general weakness, increased fatigue, decreased appetite, nausea, bitterness in the mouth, heartburn, belching. Pain usually wears aching character, more often in the right hypochondrium, sometimes with recoil into the right scapula. The main symptom is jaundice of varying degrees: from slight jaundice, the sclera of the eyes to severe jaundice of mucous membranes and skin, occasionally accompanied by pruritus. Increased liver size is observed in approximately 60% of patients, spleen - 10%.
Recognition:
Laboratory data: increased bilirubin levels, only during the exacerbation of changes in hepatic samples - an increase in the activity of alanine transaminase, alkaline phosphatase, a decrease in albumin levels. Approximately every second patient with Gilbert syndrome has a combination with other diseases: chronic hepatitis, fatty hepatosis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, peptic ulcer, chronic gastritis, enterocolitis, which determine the changes in the clinic.
Treatment:
Diet N5 or other, depending on the concomitant disease. Multivitamins, cholagogue.
