Thermography. Method of recording infrared radiation from the surface of the human body. It is used in oncology for differential diagnostics of tumors of the lacteal, salivary and thyroid glands, bone diseases, metastases of cancer in bones and soft tissues.
The physiological basis of thermography is an increase in the intensity of thermal radiation over pathological foci in connection with the increased blood supply and metabolic processes in them. Reduction of blood flow in tissues and organs is reflected by the "extinction" of their heat field.
Preparation of the patient provides for the exclusion within ten days of taking hormonal drugs, drugs that affect the tone of the vessels, and the imposition of any ointments. The thermography of the abdominal organs is carried out on an empty stomach, and the mammary glands - on the 8-10th day of the menstrual cycle. There are no contraindications, the study can be repeated many times. As an independent diagnostic method is rarely used, it is necessary to compare with the data of clinical and radiological examination of the patient.
