Takayasu's syndrome (absence of pulse)

Takayasu syndrome (a disease of lack of pulse) - degenerative or inflammatory diseases of the aortic arch wall: atherosclerosis, aorto-arteritis or supraorbital stenosis of the aorta with stenosis and obliteration of large vessels leaving the aortic arch. It affects mainly women aged 25-50 years. Characteristic is the combination of intermittent neurologic symptoms with "intermittent claudication" in the arms. With a pronounced clinical picture, there is no pulse on the neck and both arms, but in most there is only a difference in BP on the arms and legs.
