Atresia of the anus

Atresia of the anus can cause, with untimely diagnosis, low intestinal obstruction. Atresia of the anus is often combined with atresia or agenesis of the rectum.

Atresias of the rectum, as a rule, appear in the form of various fistulous forms. In girls, fistulas usually open in the vagina or in the vestibule. In boys, there are recto-prophylactic, recto-urethral, re-tovezic fistulas. Anorectal malformations in 30% of cases are combined with malformations of the urinary system.

From the fistula atrial atresia, an anctomy of the anus should be distinguished, in which the normally formed anal aperture is displaced along with the external sphincter anteriorly. The function of the latter is not violated. However, with a significant movement of the anus anteriorly, girls can develop vulvovaginitis, an ascending urinary tract infection.

Treatment of atresia of the anus and rectum is operative. It is carried out immediately after diagnosis. In fistulous forms of pathology in girls, surgery can be delayed up to 1 year from the date of birth.
