Acute paraproctitis

Acute paraproctitis - inflammation of fatty tissue (located around the rectum and anus). The development of acute paraproctitis in newborns is facilitated by the presence of congenital pararectal fistulas. In some cases, the development of acute paraproctitis can contribute to diaper rash and irritation of the perineal skin. In acute paraproctitis, the general condition of the child, as a rule, does not suffer. Locally there is swelling, hyperemia, sharp soreness. When suppuration in the center of the swelling is determined by fluctuations. With an autopsy, a fistula appears with a purulent discharge.

Treatment of acute paraproctitis surgical: open the abscess, trying not to damage the fibers of the external sphincter of the rectum; Then they are prescribed physiotherapy, baths with a solution of potassium permanganate, therapeutic enemas with chamomile infusion, candles with antibiotics, sometimes they are given antibiotic therapy.

Recurrences of acute paraproctitis indicate the congenital nature of the pararectal fistula. When the inefficiency of conservative therapy and the frequent recurrence of the inflammatory process, the fistula is scraped. More often after another inflammation, the pararectal fistulas are obliterated and heal. With persistent recurrence, an operation is performed to dissect or excise the fistula after 1.5-2 years of age.
