The fatal danger of myocardial infarction can be significantly reduced if you seek medical help in time and make the right diagnosis as soon as possible.

Symptoms characterizing a possible myocardial infarction:

  • Pain behind the breastbone of a pressing nature, a feeling of tightness in the chest;
  • Pain or discomfort in the left arm, left shoulder, in the area between the sternum and the navel, irradiation of neck pain, jaw or chin;
  • Shortness of breath, suffocation, lack of air;
  • cold sweat;
  • A feeling of causeless fear;
  • Sometimes nausea, vomiting, a feeling of heaviness in the stomach.

First aid:

  • Chew one aspirin tablet (325 mg);
  • Take under the tongue one tablet of nitroglycerin (not Validol!);
  • After 5 minutes, if the symptoms do not pass, take a second tablet of nitroglycerin;
  • If the discomfort persists for another 5-10 minutes, take a third tablet of nitroglycerin under the tongue.

If symptoms stop, call your cardiologist at the health center as soon as you feel better.
If symptoms persist for more than 15 minutes, call for an ambulance immediately! Insist that you have an electrocardiogram!
