AT CHEMICAL BURNS

Concentrated acids, alkalis, and also salts of some heavy metals, quickly remove from the affected person the clothes on which these substances have fallen. Do this so that you do not get burn yourself. Then within 25-30 minutes, flush the affected surface of the body with cold water, preferably from the hose.

Then, the areas burned with acid, treat with a solution of drinking soda (1 teaspoon per glass of water). If the burn is caused by alkali, wash the affected areas with a solution of citric or boric acid (1 teaspoon of powder to a glass of water) or table vinegar, half diluted with water, and apply dry sterile dressings.

With burns with quick lime, do not pour the affected area with water. Before it is necessary to remove the lime very carefully from the surface of the body with a piece of any clean tissue, and then thoroughly wash the skin with running water and apply a dry sterile bandage.

If chemicals get into your eyes, immediately rinse them with a copious stream of tap water. The victim must immediately examine the ophthalmologist.

In all cases of chemical burns after first aid, take the victim to a medical institution.
