Postpartum Ulcer

Postpartum ulcer. Postpartum ulcers occur 3-4 days after birth as a result of infection of the wound surface of the perineum, vagina and cervix. The inflammatory process is accompanied by the formation of a necrotic plaque. Sometimes subfebrile fever is noted. The diagnosis is made when examining the perineum, vagina and cervix with mirrors. The ulcer is a wound surface covered with a grayish, densely seated on the base of the plaque (it is not removed by tuppure). Peripheral tissues are edematic and hyperemic.

Treatment. On the wound, apply a gauze cloth moistened with hypertonic sodium chloride solution and sintomycin or other antibiotic-containing emulsion. Purification of the ulcerous surface takes several days.
