Dislocation of the lens

Dislocation of the lens - a complete (dislocation) or partial (subluxation) lens shift.

Etiology, pathogenesis: congenital maldevelopment, weakness or partial absence of cynic ligament; Their rupture due to trauma or degeneration.

Symptoms, course. With the subluxation of the lens, an uneven anterior chamber, a smaller one on the side of the displacement, a shivering of the iris, a shift of refraction towards the myopia, a decrease in vision. With ophthalmoscopy, you can see the edge of the lens and a double image of the fundus. Dislocation of the lens into the vitreous body is accompanied by signs of aphakia and may be the cause of iridocyclitis or secondary glaucoma. When the lens is dislocated into the anterior chamber after trauma, it is visible in a very deep anterior chamber in the form of a golden-oily drop. As a rule, secondary glaucoma develops.

Treatment. With subluxation and uncomplicated dislocation, the appointment of corrective lenses, if they improve vision. With complicated dislocation - removal of the lens.

Forecast. With the displacement of the lens without complications, correction significantly and steadily improves vision. With a complicated dislocation, the prognosis is determined by the success of the treatment and the degree of changes in the eye.
