Chronic atrophic rhinitis

Chronic atrophic rhinitis can be caused by unfavorable climatic conditions, occupational hazards, often repeated acute runny nose, infectious diseases, surgical interventions in the nose.

Symptoms, course. Sensation of dryness in the nasal cavity, difficult blowing, lowering of the sense of smell; Nosebleeds are not uncommon. Rhinoscopically defined a wide nasal cavity due to atrophy mainly of the inferior nasal conchaes, a cluster of thick secretions, which in places, drying up, forms crusts.

Treatment is symptomatic. Dense mucus and crusts are liquefied with an alkaline solution. Apply also alkaline-oil inhalation (through the nose).
