otomycosis
Otomycosis - a disease caused by the development on the walls of the external auditory canal (sometimes to the eardrum) of various kinds of fungi. It is promoted by moist environment, previous suppurative otitis media, prolonged irrational use of antibiotics, and others.
Symptoms within. Pain, itching in the ear canal, the increased sensitivity of the skin of the auditory canal and the ear, headache on the side of the affected ear, ringing in the ear, a feeling of fullness and pledged (tm) ear. On examination of the ear auditory canal is narrowed throughout his wall macerated and hyperemic (less than bacterial otitis). Detachable ear canal in most cases mild, may have a different color (gray-black, black-brown, yellowish or greenish) and depends on the type of fungus causing the disease; it typically has no odor. The tympanic membrane in most patients hyperemic, infiltrated, with clearly marked with identification items. Occasionally seen hole in the eardrum (only the result of fungal infection without involvement of the middle ear in the process). In rare cases, the disease process may extend beyond the external ear canal and even the outer ear (skin of the face, neck). After clinical recovery can be observed relapses of the disease.
Diagnosis is based on otoscopy data and mycological study separated the external auditory canal. The differential diagnosis must be done with candidiasis (yeast fungi defeat) and dermatitis of the external ear of another etiology.
The treatment is strictly individual, taking into account the patient's general condition, clinical features of the disease and the type of fungus. Good effect is obtained by the appointment of local antifungal drugs: grizeminovoy, lyutenurinovoy nystatin or emulsions as well as alcoholic solutions flavofungina, fungifena or hinozola. According to the testimony appoint desensitizing treatment. The prognosis of early diagnosis and intensive antifungal therapy is usually favorable.
