Toxidermia

Toxidermy (toxicoderma) -strain of the skin, arising as a reaction to ingestion, inhalation or parenteral administration of substances that are allergens and at the same time have toxic effects (chemical agents, certain drugs and food products).

Pathogenesis. Hyperergic reaction of delayed or immediate type, their combination is often combined with toxicosis.

Symptoms, the course varied, depend on the etiological factor and the characteristics of the body. There is a urticaria rash, scarlet fever, rubella or korepodobnye rashes, eczematous rash up to erythroderma, lichenoid rashes, purpura, etc. The process is often accompanied by fever, itching, and sometimes dyspepsia. When medicamentous toxicermia is characterized by the appearance of edematous spots with a bubble in the center, which are localized mainly on the mucous membrane of the mouth and the skin of the genital organs. In case of repeated contact with the etiologic factor, rashes occur in old places, but may appear on new ones. Burning is subjective. The general condition does not suffer. There are also severe variants of the course of toxicdermia (see Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell syndrome}.

Treatment. Immediately stop the effects of the agents (or contact with them) that triggered the reaction. Assign laxatives and diuretics to remove the remnants of the allergen, abundant drink. Desensitizing and detoxifying therapy is performed. Assign the introduction of 30% sodium thiosulfate solution, 10 ml daily, hemodez for 100-200 ml every other day, calcium preparations, antihistamines. In severe cases, plasmapheresis is recommended, short-term corticosteroid therapy (for example, prednisone 20-30 mg / day or every other day with a gradual decrease in the daily dose after the onset of improvement). Locally agitated suspensions, indifferent pastes, creams.

The prognosis in most cases is good, work capacity is restored.
