Abscess

Abscess - purulent inflammation of the tissue with the formation of a limited foci of decay. The causative agent of soft tissue abscess is more often staphylo- and streptococcus, with abscesses of other localizations, the nature of the flora depends on the cause of its occurrence (for example, with an appendicular abscess the pathogen is usually an E. coli) in combination with a non-clostridial anaerobic flora and cocci.

With an abscess, there is a clear delimitation of the focus of inflammation from the surrounding tissues. In early terms, it is a granulation tissue, in the subsequent flow around the granulation tissue, a connective tissue membrane is formed. The presence of the pyogenic membrane sharply worsens the penetration of antibiotics from the bloodstream into the cavity of the abscess, but the intoxication of the body due to the absorption of toxic products from the foci of the decay remains. If the pyogenic membrane is broken (sudden increase in pressure in the abscess cavity) or the general and local immune mechanisms decrease, the infection spreads from the abscess, accompanied by sepsis and purulent swelling.

Treatment is only prompt, the type of intervention depends on the size and localization of the abscess.
